Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her first Broadway performances, she starred the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. For her role as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with directors and actors both on screen and stage for all of her career. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream on Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. In March of 2023 Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the leading the production. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS popular comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. The actress has also performed on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original role of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Ashford is from the city of Denver resident who splits her time in Los Angeles.
