Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onestiin Gheorghe Gheorghiu dej, now Onesti Romania). She was the first person to reach a flawless 10 in an Olympic occasion. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics coach who became Comaneci's coach later on, discovered her at age six. At first, she competed in the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. In 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. In her first international competition in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior meet for the communist-bloc countries she was awarded three gold medals and in 1973 and 1974 she became an overall junior champion. When she competed for the first time at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva of Russia won five gold medals aswell being awarded a silver. She was the first woman to ever successfully complete reverse double saltos when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her career in the entertainment business when she was a teenager. She began her career as figure skater, performing alongside her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around known as Ice Capades.
